iPhone cameras are very good at close-up detail, which makes them fine coin scanners. To be clear up front: AI Coin Collector is coming to Android first, through Google Play. An iPhone version is planned for later, and this page explains what the app does and what to look for in any coin scanner meanwhile.
Where AI Coin Collector stands on iPhone
AI Coin Collector is not in the App Store yet. We are launching on Android first and will build the iPhone version after that. Join the waitlist on the home page and we email you when it is available.
What the app does on Android
You photograph the front of a coin and, if you like, the back. Our own AI vision model suggests the country, denomination and year; you confirm or correct it. The confirmed coin is matched in the Numista catalogue, with official pictures, metal, weight, mintage and the catalogue price per grade, plus a Sheldon grade estimate from your photos.
Around that you get collections with total value and CSV export, a community where you can follow other collectors, XP, 15 achievements and daily streaks, and short coin news summaries. The app has no ads and no tracking.
What to look for in any coin scanner app
Whatever app you use on your iPhone, check three things: does it show its answer as a suggestion you can correct, does it say where its values come from, and does it present a grade from photos as an estimate rather than a certification.

- A named source for values, with the grade it applies to.
- Clear privacy terms: no ads or tracking is a good sign.

Can a phone photo give a certified grade?
No. AI Coin Collector gives a Sheldon grade estimate from your photos, which is useful for your own records. A certified grade comes from a grading service such as PCGS or NGC.
