How scanning works on Android
Open CoinVault Pro, point your camera at a coin, and capture the obverse and reverse. The app sends the photos through two independent AI systems: the Gemini AI vision model interprets the design, inscriptions, and date the way an expert would, while Coin-CLIP image matching compares your photo against reference images of known coins. Two systems agreeing gives you far more reliable results than a single model guessing alone.
Within moments you get the coin’s identification, an estimated grade on the Sheldon 1–70 scale, and a value based on Numista catalog data and real eBay sold prices. From the result screen you can file the coin straight into your collection.
- Capture both sides with your phone camera — no extra hardware or scanner needed.
- Dual AI identification: Gemini AI vision plus Coin-CLIP image similarity.
- Sheldon-scale grading estimate from your photos.
- Market value from Numista catalog data and real eBay sold prices.
- One-tap save into collections, with wishlist, sorting, and filtering.
Tips for better scans with a phone camera
Android phones vary enormously in camera quality, but technique matters more than hardware. Place the coin on a plain, non-reflective background, use bright indirect light rather than direct flash, and fill the frame with the coin while keeping it in focus. Slightly angling the light can reveal detail on worn coins that a straight-on shot flattens.
If the app reports low confidence, retake the photo rather than accepting a shaky match — a ten-second retake with better lighting fixes most misidentifications.
Free tier and Google Play upgrades
CoinVault Pro on Android is free to download and use: the free tier includes core AI recognition and is supported by ads. When you want more, Premium and Pro subscriptions are handled through Google Play billing, so payment works through the account you already have and can be managed or cancelled in the Play Store like any other subscription.
Exact prices are shown in the app and on our pricing page. Offline recognition is also coming soon for Pro subscribers — useful when you are scanning at a coin show or anywhere without reliable signal.
Scan your first coin in the next five minutes
Grab any coin from your pocket or drawer, install CoinVault Pro from Google Play, and scan it. The free tier means the experiment costs nothing, and there is a decent chance the app tells you something about that coin you did not know.
