Getting started
How it works
From a coin in your hand to a saved entry in your collection, in four steps.
Install and sign in
Install the app from Google Play (coming soon) and create an account with your email or Google account. The app has four tabs: Home, Scan, Collection and Profile.
Scan a coin
Open the Scan tab and allow camera access. Fill the frame with the coin and photograph the front, then turn it over and photograph the back, or skip that. The analysis takes a moment.
Read the result
You see the suggested match, the catalogue value per condition and a grade estimate. Check the match; you can correct it when you save the coin.
Save it
Add the coin to one of your collections with your purchase price and your own notes.
User guide
Better photos, better matches
- Use soft, even light. Daylight near a window works well; avoid a flash.
- Put the coin on a plain background that contrasts with it.
- Hold the phone steady and straight above the coin, so it fills most of the frame.
- Photograph the side with the date and country first, then add the back: both sides give a better match.
- Do not clean a coin to get a better photo: cleaning can lower its value a lot.
Reading the result
- Match: country, year, denomination and catalogue details such as metal, weight and diameter.
- Suggestion: the match is a suggestion. Check the country and value and correct them if needed; a value estimated from colour and size (the national side of a euro coin) is flagged.
- Grade: a Sheldon-scale estimate from your photos, shown under Details as an estimate. It is not a certified grade.
- Value and rarity: the Numista catalogue price per condition (VG to UNC) in euros, a reference rather than a sale price. Rarity comes from the mintage of that year.
Your collection
Open the Collection tab to see your coins. Search, filter by recent, high value or rare, and sort by name, value or date. Tap a coin for its details and your notes. You see the total value of each collection, and you can export a collection to CSV.
Plans
Free gives you daily free scans and a collection to get started. Premium adds more scans, bigger collections and value history, with a free trial. See pricing.
When a scan does not work
- Check your internet connection: recognition runs on our server.
- Try again with better light and a cleaner camera lens.
- Very rare, worn or damaged coins are harder to match. Compare with the coin pages or our guides.
- Still stuck? Contact support.
