That matters because recognition is the feature you need to evaluate before trusting an app with anything else. You can scan real coins from your own collection and judge the quality of the results without entering payment details.
Why the free tier has ads
AI recognition costs real money to run — every scan invokes cloud AI models. Ads on the free tier pay for those scans, which is the honest trade at the heart of freemium: you get working recognition for free, we get modest ad revenue, and nobody pretends the service is magically costless.

The app’s full feature set spans Sheldon-scale grading estimates, market values from Numista catalog data and real eBay sold prices, the collection manager with wishlist and sorting, the social feed, gamification, and the marketplace with escrow protection — and offline recognition is coming soon as a Pro-subscriber feature.
