Offline Coin Identification
Coin shows, basements and old houses often have poor signal. To be straightforward: AI Coin Collector needs an internet connection. Recognition runs on our own AI server and the catalogue data comes from Numista, so neither works offline.
Why recognition needs a connection
The vision model that reads your coin runs on our own server in the Netherlands, not on your phone. That keeps the app small and lets us improve the model without an update, but it means a scan needs a connection.
Working without signal
Without signal you can still prepare. Photograph the front and back of each coin with your phone camera, write down where it came from, and scan the photos later when you are online.
- Take sharp photos in even light, front and back.
- Note the price you paid and where you bought it.
- Use the show’s or venue’s Wi-Fi when there is one.
